My name is Andy Fox and I am the Financial Abuse Safeguarding Officer attached to the Economic Crime Unit at North Yorkshire Police.
Each week I receive a list from Action Fraud detailing the reports made to Action Fraud by residents in North Yorkshire for that previous week.
My primary role in the unit is to visit victims of fraud and offer safeguarding advice in order to reduce the likelihood of that person becoming a repeat victim. I often see first-hand the misery that being such a victim can bring .
In order to provide an enhanced service to such residents we are looking at holding an information and support evening on Monday 9th March 2020 from 6:30-8:30pm at North Yorkshire Police HQ, Alverton Court, Northallerton DL6 1BF. This will include presentations on how to spot a scam and will give you the chance to meet our Police Community Support Officers who are our trained ‘Fraud Ambassadors’ and our police volunteers who have a specialism in cyber-crime. If you wish to ask me any information concerning the event, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
If you wish to attend this event respond to this email (you are welcome to bring a guest to accompany you. Please give the name of your guest for security purposes)
The event will provide advice on:
- Email Security
- Computer security software
- Typical scams used by online fraudsters
- Phone scams
- Bogus Callers
The event will also give you time to meet with North Yorkshire Cyber & Fraud Ambassadors who are happy to answer any questions in regards to cyber and fraud security.
We look forward to seeing you there! Refreshments will be provided.
