You may have heard of this already but we wanted to raise it in case you haven’t. We know many businesses and tradespeople have had to change the way they work or stop altogether temporarily due to Covid and it’s difficult to know what’s open for business but perhaps working differently, for example your local pub may now do takeaways. The County Council has set up a free business website called North Yorkshire Buy Local www.northyorks.gov.uk/buy-local and is encouraging businesses and individuals to register to advertise their services under Covid 19 restrictions and then residents can search to find businesses close to them.

Obviously supporting local businesses is really important at the moment, so as council staff,  can you help to spread the word about the website in your community and with friends and family and via social media to encourage businesses and people to advertise their services and local communities to use them.  It’s a new site and it’ll change as businesses sign up, so keep checking it to see what new businesses have joined. The site is quick and easy to use, but we’d welcome any feedback on it to improve it via this email: buylocal@northyorks.gov.uk
